Does your team have a toxic workplace culture?

Workplace culture is a pretty powerful thing. It governs employee behavior, decision-making, and office interactions, and determines how you get your work done and how you feel day to day.

A healthy company culture makes for happy and engaged teams, not to mention better business outcomes. And, on the flip side, a toxic work environment spells trouble for people and their productivity.

So how can you tell if you’re dealing with a toxic work culture? You take an online quiz, that’s how.

If you’re face-to-face with the realization that your workplace culture is, like, hella toxic, don’t fret. Here are a few things you can do:

How to deal with a toxic work environment

Find your allies: Building a support system of some friendly and like-minded colleagues can help you boost your spirits and feel less isolated
Focus on what you can control: If you’re not in a leadership position, you probably have limited power over how other people behave and interact. But you can control how you respond to it.
Document everything: It’s sad if you even feel a need to protect yourself in this way, but keeping accurate records of your work and conversations will at least give you some peace of mind.
Provide honest feedback: Speak up when you’re given opportunities to provide feedback, whether that’s through employee surveys, your one-on-ones with your manager, upwards performance reviews, or another outlet.
