Groovy is a dynamic programing language based on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) with features for improved productivity. For Java developers, it’s a great way to get the benefits of dynamic languages such as Python and perl without having to learn a lot of new syntax and object models.
At Atlassian Summit 2010, Paul King, a major contributor to the Groovy code base, gave a lightning talk demonstrating how Groovy can easily be used to create Atlassian plugins with far less code than if you used Java!
