Celebrating Atlassian’s $2.5M in Donations to Room to Read: ‘Causium in Action’ Event Recap

Several weeks ago we celebrated the success of our Atlassian Foundation‘s unique philanthropy model, which has produced more than $2.5M in donations to Bay Area non-profit Room to Read! We hosted a joint “Causium in Action” event featuring a panel discussion with the always inspirational and thought-provoking Founder of Room to Read John Wood, along with Atlassians Jose Morales, VP of corporate development and Jeremy Largman, knowledge management program manager. Audience members were invited to participate in an open Q&A. All participants were given a complimentary signed copy of John’s new book book, Creating Room to Read: A Story of Hope in the Battle for Global Literacy.

As highlighted in Fast Company, these donations have empowered Room to Read to positively impact the lives of nearly 90,000 children, mostly in Cambodia, by giving them access to education. Specifically, the funds helped build more than 150 libraries and six schools, sponsor 1,500 girls to attend school, publish 10 new local language books, and enable much-needed renovations. Atlassian is also the original donor of the Reading and Writing pilot in Cambodia.
